# veAIW3 Acquisition

When you lock AIW3 tokens, you will receive veAIW3 in proportion to the lock-up duration:

**Lock-up Duration → veAIW3 Received (per 1 AIW3 locked):**

* Remaining 2 years → **1 veAIW3**
* Remaining 1.5 years → **0.75 veAIW3**
* Remaining 1 year → **0.5 veAIW3**
* Remaining 0.5 year → **0.25 veAIW3**
* Unlocked AIW3 → **0 veAIW3**

The **maximum lock-up period is 2 years**, and the selected staking duration cannot exceed 2 years (including extensions).Your **voting power (veAIW3 weight)** will gradually decrease as the lock-up time decays, reaching zero once the lock-up expires.You can **extend your lock-up at any time**, which will increase your veAIW3 balance again.
